Day 5- Tues (18.07.17)

Therapy for Nimmy today was equally strenuous and she cried a lot. The teachers known as conductors told us we could buy some customized equipment for the children. After the therapy session I went to the school’s shop to measure Nimmy for leg braces, hand braces, orthopedic shoes and also check out their walker.
We were told that the leg braces cost a hundred and five forint per piece making two hundred and ten thousand forint for a pair. I was taken aback. Maka why? Leg braces? Shoo. The hand braces: twenty-four thousand forint for a pair, a customized pair of shoes would cost thirty thousand forint and a molded chair support would cost three hundred and forty five thousand forint. Kilode?
I smiled at the shop attendant and conductor that explained everything to me. I told them my husband and I need to sleep over that information and we would get back to them the next day. We left the shop wandering why all the equipment were so expensive. We did not need to sleep over it to know that we could not afford to buy everything. We decided to buy her hand braces and walker.
On our way home, I convinced my husband to get a blender so we got off the train at vaci utca, which was a route on our way back to Corvin hotel. We went through the long subway beneath the train station. There were a lot of shops with various items ranging from pizza to clothes. There was an old man seated at a corner playing a guitar with a hat on the floor hoping passersby will drop a penny. There were some youngsters setting up their equipment to play music too. Anyway one of the openings from the subway led into the mall.
When we located a shop where we could buy the blender, I had a difficult time describing what a blender is. Then the sales girl called a sales boy who obviously understood a little bit of English and he pointed to the direction where we could get one. We finally got a Phillips blender that cost ten thousand forints.
Finally, we got home and made stew after blending pepper and tomatoes. Well the stew kind of tasted sugary. It must be their kind of tomatoes and bell pepper.
